Objective Summary Mini Lesson
This mini lesson will help your students learn what an objective summary is and the steps to follow in order to write one. In addition, students will practice writing an objective summary after reading a short informational article.

Objective Summary: The Quest Activity Pack
Objective Summary Quests
These quests are an engaging and creative way to help your students practice and apply their knowledge of how to write a correct objective summary.
The Quests:
Quest 1: Part One- Students will watch a news story and determine the big idea and important details. Part Two-Students will write an objective summary of the news story.
Quest 2: Part One- Students will listen to a podcast and determine the differences between the important and minor details. Part Two-Students will determine three big ideas, the central idea, and write an objective summary.
Quest 3: Part One- Students will read an informational text article and will write an objective summary of the article. Part Two- Students will write an objective summary multiple choice question based on the article.
Quest 4- Part One- Students read an informational text article, write down interesting facts, and the big ideas from each section of the article. Part Two- Students will write an objective summary multiple choice question based on the article.
Quest 5: Part One- Students will read an informational text article and write an objective summary and an incorrect objective summary (one that includes opinions, thoughts, and judgements).
